Library Floor Plans

The entrance to the Law Library is located on the third floor of Weinmann Hall.

  • Third Floor -- The main Library lobby contains the Circulation Desk, Reference Desk, Reference Collection, Photocopy Room, and four computer workstations.  Two of the workstations are dedicated to searching the Internet and using the Law Library's Online Catalog.  The other two workstations are reserved for patrons wishing to use our free Westlaw service (Westlaw Patron Access). At the Reference Desk, librarians are available during posted hours to assist students in performing legal research using print and online resources.  The library's Reading Room is also located on the Third Floor.  The current CFR, and additional copies of the USCA, Louisiana Statutes Annotated, and selected reporters of state and federal case law are kept in this area.  Adjacent to the Reading Room are the Reserve Stacks.  Titles in high demand, materials needed for specific courses, hornbooks, restatements, nutshells, encyclopedias, and form books are shelved here.  Two photocopiers are located in the Reserve Stacks. All books shelved in the Reserve Stacks must be used in the Reading Room. This floor also contains basic legal materials for federal and state law research.  Included are reports of the United States Supreme Court, reports of federal and state courts, federal and state codes, digests, Shepard's citators, and the library's collection of domestic periodicals.  The Maritime Law Collection is shelved in the same general area. On this floor you will also find Interlibrary Loan Services, library administrative offices, reference offices, the technical services department, and restrooms.
  • Fourth Floor -- Student Computer Lab (with help desk);  Westlaw & Lexis Training Room; Microforms Department (non-print items); Computing Services; Special Collections & Rare Book Room.
  • Fifth Floor -- Federal Depository (Government Documents); Office of the Government Documents/Microforms Librarian; books and serials arranged according to the classification system of the Library of Congress (A - KF3650.5) (KF denotes American law); restrooms; two group study rooms; photocopiers; and a computer workstation (to view government websites, the Library's online catalog, or for general internet searching).
