Biography:

Professor Childress previously clerked for the late Chief Judge Henry Politz of the U.S. Fifth Circuit, and practiced with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco.  He did graduate work in Jurisprudence and Social Policy at Berkeley while teaching law part-time at Golden Gate University, before joining the Tulane faculty in 1988.  His dissertation analyzed the roles of judges and juries in constitutional adjudication.  He has published articles on appeals, jurisdiction, and the First Amendment, and is coauthor of Federal Standards of Review (3d ed. 1999).  He teaches torts, evidence, and legal profession.  During the 2006-07 academic year, he was a visiting professor at George Washington University's law school.  Professor Childress is co-author of the Legal Profession Blog, which appears at http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/legal_profession/
