Biography:
Professor Griffin joined the faculty in 1989 after serving as a Bigelow Fellow at the University of Chicago and research instructor in law at New York University. He has published over 30 articles, book chapters, and reviews on topics ranging from Rawls's theory of justice to the theory of American constitutional interpretation. His book,
American Constitutionalism: From Theory to Politics, was published in 1996 by Princeton University Press. In 2000, he received the Sumter Marks Award in recognition of his publications. In 2002, he received the Felix Frankfurter Distinguished Teaching Award from the graduating class. He is a member of the American Political Science Association and helped organize a joint AALS/APSA Conference on Constitutional Law held in 2002. He was chair of the AALS section on Constitutional Law for 2006. Professor Griffin just published a reader,
Constitutional Theory: Arguments and Perspectives with Lexis. He served as Vice Dean of Academic Affairs from 2001-04 and again from 2006-09, when he became Interim Dean.
