Most of the scholarship assistance awarded to law students comes from internal funds at the Law School, set aside for that purpose and designated Tulane Law School Scholarships. As noted above, most of these funds are awarded to incoming students on the basis of merit, with a portion reserved for need-based scholarships. These scholarships are renewable so long as the student meets the prescribed conditions. A portion of the School's funds is reserved for upperclass students who were not awarded scholarships as first -year students, but who have performed exceptionally well during the first or second year of law school.
