JD
We strongly urge that applicants use the electronic application service provided by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), available through www.lsac.org. This service is provided without additional charge when you register for LSDAS. To go directly to Tulane's electronic application, click here.
Hard copy application materials in pdf format can be provided upon request; contact admissions@law.tulane.edu or 504.865.5930.
If you intend to apply as a transfer or visiting student, please visit our pages regarding those applications:
You may request a hard copy of our Viewbook and brochures on other topics by clicking here, but application materials are available only on-line.
Applications for the JD program are considered complete when we have received:
- The completed application form
- The $60 application fee or documentation supporting a fee waiver, unless a waiver has already been granted through LSAC
- The LSDAS report, which will include your LSAT score, an analysis of your undergraduate work, and copies of all of your undergraduate transcripts (graduate transcripts will be copied and attached to the report if you arrange for them to be sent to LSAC)
- Transcripts of graduate work not submitted to LSAC
- Your résumé, electronically attached to your application
We strongly encourage letters of recommendation. We prefer to receive letters of recommendation through the LSAC letter of recommendation service; however, letters sent directly to the Office of Admission at Tulane Law School are welcome and will be considered.
Help make Tulane Law School even greener by applying on-line and sending any additional materials to us through e-mail at
admissions@law.tulane.edu.
LLM
The LLM program is for individuals who already hold the first law degree. The preferred and most reliable application method is to apply on-line. This link will take you to the Tulane Law School LLM application forms. Support is provided by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). The Tulane application fee is automatically waived for applicants who apply electronically through the LSAC. We offer the waiver to help offset the costs associated with the LSAC's Credential Assembly Service. We regret that we are unable to offer refunds for any reason.

LLM applications for fall semester enrollment can be submitted after September 1 of the previous year and as late as May 1, but we strongly encourage candidates to complete the application process by the end of March. This is particularly important for international candidates because of the time required to process visas and immigration documents. Candidates wishing optimal consideration for scholarships should try to complete the application process by March 1.
Applications for the LLM programs are considered complete only when we have received the following:
the completed graduate studies application form
the application fee (we accept personal checks, money orders, and credit card payments)
complete, official transcripts of work at all colleges, universities, and law schools attended, whether or not a degree was granted. If the transcript is not written in English, we will need an authorized translation in addition to the original. Please note that transcripts must be sent to us or to LSAC directly from the college, university, or law school that you attended. Trancripts may not be sent by the candidate, even if in a sealed and signed envelope.
letters of recommendation from two of the candidate's current or former law professors; these may be written on the forms provided or on the recommender's own letterhead. Please note that the letters should be sent to us or to the LSAC directly from the recommenders and should not be sent by the candidate.
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report is required for each applicant whose native language is not English or if English was not the language of instruction at the law school where the applicant received his or her first law degree (JD or LLB or equivalent). Such applicants must meet Tulane Law School’s TOEFL requirements (575 on the paper test or 90 on the Internet version). The Internet-based version of the TOEFL includes a writing section. Students taking the paper-based version of the TOEFL must also take the Test of Written English (TWE) and achieve a score of 3.5 or higher. Tulane Law School accepts TOEFL scores for up to three years after the test administration. Please request that ETS forward TOEFL scores to Tulane Law School (Institution #6832, Department 3). A score on the Test of Spoken English (TSE) is requested but not required. We also accept the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in lieu of the TOEFL examination. Students must receive an IELTS band score of 7 or higher.
