Summer Internship Opportunities

Internships are invaluable opportunities for students to gain work experience in private law firms, multinational companies, courts, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations while gaining international exposure and aptitude. These experiences provide students with practical applications of their academic programs as well as integration into the legal culture of another country. They also provide networking opportunities and contacts that last throughout participants' careers. Some Tulane Summer Programs offer them explicitly, but others have opportunities that just take a little investigation by students.

Application Form

To apply for any of the opportunities below, please complete our internship application form. Internships are available only to students who successfully complete the associated academic portion of the summer law program.

Berlin

For more information about opportunities available through the Berlin program, please contact Professor Fedtke or Karl-Michael Schmidt.

China

Unpaid internship opportunities at leading law firms in Beijing and Shanghai will be available to a limited number of qualified registrants. Internships will be available after the completion of the second session in Shanghai and will be limited strictly to those individuals who participated in and completed both the Beijing and Shanghai sessions. Although ability to read and or write in Chinese is helpful, it will not be required.

Greece

In 2014, students participating in Tulane’s summer program in Rhodes may be eligible for judicial clerkships, extern- or internships with law firms, non-governmental organizations or international governmental organizations specializing in the areas of admiralty, law of the sea, or marine environmental management. Thus far the Administration has secured several placements options in Greece (Rhodes, Athens/Piraeus), and the United States. Additional placement options are likely to become available in other Mediterranean countries, and possibly London, Brussels and New York.

Paris

Unpaid internship opportunities are available with Paris law firms. Selections will be made on a competitive basis based on CVs and an interview, concerning such factors as background/fit and French level. Students must speak fluent French in order to qualify. The length or duration of the internship depends on the needs of the firm and the student's availability.

Rio

For more information about opportunities available through the Rio program, please contact Professor Crawford.

Siena

We are looking for approximately 15 interns to work in Cambodia, New York, and Washington, DC for a minimum of four weeks (six weeks is the preferable length). Due to the project's large scope, there is much room to accommodate the students' individual qualifications and interests.

Other Opportunities

In the past, prior students have interned for the Tribunals at the Hague in the following summer or semester (Tribunals require 3 month placements or more). For more information about opportunities available with tribunals, please contact Professor Larson.
