Tulane Law School’s 2012 programs reflect our more than 35 years’ experience running summer law programs abroad, beginning in 1973 in Grenoble, France. Long-established relationships with our partner universities and locations result from this experience designing and executing programs abroad. Over 7,000 law students from approximately 140 U.S. law schools have attended our programs, all of which are approved by the American Bar Association. Students from our host institutions and other schools abroad also participate in many of our programs, adding a valuable dimension to classroom discussions, as well as first-hand knowledge of local and regional attractions. Each program, with its own personal touch, fosters a deeper learning experience by immersing students in both the substance of their coursework and the culture to which it pertains.
In addition to interesting and well-taught courses, students can be confident that they will find well organized and professionally run programs that offer extra-curricular activities, living accommodations, internships, and faculty who will explore the surrounding culture along with their students. Through the years, both U.S. and international prominent scholars, practitioner, and prestigious federal judges have highlighted our faculty. From the U.S. Supreme Court alone, these have included Justices Harry Blackmun, Stephen Breyer, Ruth Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, and Chief Justice William Rehnquist. The Tulane summer abroad experience will not only add to your resume but also broaden your horizons, by providing networking opportunities and first hand perspectives into other cultures.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil SI: May 26 - June 9, 2012SII: June 9 - June 24, 2012 Focusing on Comparative Perspectives of Law and International Development, we partner with the Fundacao Getulio Vargas, one of the best law faculties in Brazil. We offer students the widest possible exposure to Brazil, Brazilian society and legal institutions, and to diverse learning environments, including classes supplemented by role-playing and presentations from local lawyers and government.
|
Berlin, Germany July 22 - August 4, 2012 Obtain knowledge within the emerging field of law of “Alternative Dispute Resolution” (ADR) and Arbitration in Berlin. Learn how to negotiate and mediate in a cross-cultural setting. These are indispensable skills to become a successful lawyer rarely taught in regular law school programs. Half of the students will be American and half will be international students from around the world.
|
Rhodos, Greece May 27 - June 15, 2012 Due to Greece’s strong legal and cultural maritime focus, the study of Admiralty, International Conventions and the Law of the Sea is particularly appropriate there. This relationship is further enhanced in the Rhodos I Session by Tulane’s cooperation with the Aegean Institute of the Law of the Sea and Maritime Law, and Archipelagos, an international nonprofit environmental research organization.
