Even though it's almost the last week of classes, this is shaping up to be an exciting week here. We just learned that during a presentation this Wednesday by the Director of the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (that's a mouthful--BOEMRE is the acronym), US Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar will speak as well! The presentation will address both the post-Deepwater Horizon regulatory environment and the Bureau's plans to do some intensive hiring in fields ranging from environmental studies to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review to environmental compliance. Honestly, there can be no better place to discuss this than Tulane, where our environmental program offers an extraordinary group of well-trained students.
