Welcome

Welcome to the Tulane University Law School’s Human Rights Law Society website.

About

The Human Rights Law Society (HRLS) addresses concerns about international and domestic human rights issues. HRLS keeps current on and raises awareness about significant worldwide developments in human rights in collaboration with other student organizations. Events HRLS has hosted or helped to organize include: roundtable luncheon discussions (topics have included torture, the Alien Torts Claim Act, sovereign immunity, rebuilding Iraq), Trafficking in Persons Symposium, Human Rights  film festival, fundraisers with proceeds donated to indigent populations, and workers' rights activism and community service outreach post-Katrina and Gustav (including participating in various building projects).

Initiatives

Fundraiser: selling pins with AIDS ribbons made by individuals from South Africa living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.  All proceeds go to the individuals who made the pins

Film Festival

HRLS is co-sponsoring a week long human rights documentary series to raise awareness about pertinent local and international human rights violations.
