Tracie and James (L ’89) Garner, Karen (L ’77) and Leopold (L ’76) Sher, and the law firm of Sher, Garner, Cahill, Richter, Klein & Hilbert LLC have committed a gift of $31,000 to establish the Sher, Garner, Cahill, Richter, Klein & Hilbert Law Scholarship. The scholarship’s first award will be made this year to an incoming student that will study the civil law curriculum.
“The Sher Garner Law Firm understands that long term financial support for the law school guarantees a vibrant and enduring Civil Law tradition in Louisiana,” said James M. Garner, co-managing member of the firm and a trial lawyer specializing in commercial and complex litigation.
The Sher, Garner, Cahill, Richter, Klein & Hilbert LLC Scholarship is an endowed fund that will be kept in perpetuity at Tulane Law School.
“Endowed scholarships are tremendously important for the future of Tulane Law School,” says Shannon Woodard, senior director of development. “Scholarships like this one will help assure that we continue to compete for the best and brightest law students that Louisiana has to offer.”
Dean David Meyer echoed Woodward’s sentiments stating, “There is no higher priority today than ensuring that Tulane Law School remains accessible to future generations of the most talented students. We greatly appreciate the long and close partnership between Tulane Law School and the Sher, Garner firm and this important commitment to our common future.”
Sher Garner Cahill Richter Klein & Hilbert, L.L.C. is located in New Orleans, La., and provides both transactional and litigation services to clients.
