Kenneth D. McClintock
(L ’80), Secretary of State, Government of Puerto Rico, visited Tulane Law School on Friday (Dec. 2) while in New Orleans for the 35th Annual Conference on the Caribbean and Central America (CCAA). During his visit on campus, McClintock met with Dean David Meyer, members of the law school administration, alums and students to address his career path and the legal market in Puerto Rico. Students, most of whom were born in Puerto Rico and comfortably conversed in both Spanish and English, welcomed the opportunity to ask McClintock questions, seek career advice, and share stories about their Caribbean connections.
“We spoke about how to enter public service and about the various legal needs of Puerto Rico at the moment,” said second-year law student Michelle Muñoz-Machen, who currently serves at the Tulane chapter president of the law Latino association, La Alianza del Derecho. “We also touched upon important Caribbean/Latin American trade and economic policies and the role of the city of New Orleans in that area.”
Prior to his visit to the law school, McClintock delivered remarks on “The Panama Canal Expansion and the Impact on Trade” at the CCAA Plenary Lunch held Thursday.
