Tulane University Law School alum Phyllis M. Taylor (L ’66) is this year’s recipient of the Dermot McGlinchey Lifetime Achievement Award. Established in 1996 to honor the memory of Dermot McGlinchey, who graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences of Tulane University in 1954 and Tulane Law School in 1957, the award honors “those who have demonstrated service and volunteer involvement and commitment to Tulane and their hometown communities.”
The Tulane Alumni Association spotlighted several alumni stars on Sunday (April 3) at the annual  awards celebration. Headlining the honorees was noted political commentator Newt Gingrich, who was on hand to receive the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus Award at the Audubon Tea Room. The former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Gingrich holds two degrees from Tulane — a master’s degree (1968) and Ph.D. (1971), both in history.
