February 17, 2011
In the late 1980s, Delaware Supreme Court Justice Andrew G.T. Moore II (L ’60) and a group of New Orleans corporate practitioners were among those who undertook an aggressive goal: to establish a new annual platform for a gathering of national leaders in the fields of law and business. Twenty-three years later, the Tulane Law School Corporate Law Institute (CLI) remains a critical meeting place for the most high-profile lawyers and bankers from across the United States and Canada, as well as judges, journalists, and others who follow the deal-making world.
The M&A and corporate law conference, which focuses on relevant topics and updates to corporate and securities law, was particularly timely last year when the second day of the conference (Friday, April 16, 2010) coincided with a major SEC announcement. The news temporarily disrupted the day’s agenda as the story made national headlines and journalists flooded The Roosevelt Hotel seeking conference attendees for comment. Aside from the breaking news, last year’s meeting had a record-breaking turnout of more than 300 attendants—ultimately confirming that the Tulane conference had achieved a goal set long ago.
Looking ahead to this spring, the 2011 CLI planning committee is certain this year’s conference will exceed expectations.
