Tulane second year law students Noah Perch-Ahern and Joseph Kraft won first and third prizes, respectively, in the 15th Annual Environmental Law Essay Contest sponsored and judged by the Environmental Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Perch-Ahern’s submission critiqued court responses to the Supreme Court’s recent decision in a case involving Southern Utah Wilderness Association, which could give agencies wide discretion to ignore statutory law.
Mr. Kraft’s paper treated recent revisions to the Environmental Protection Agency’s recycling policy, which he characterizes as one step forward and two steps back. Mr Kraft takes on the responsibilities of Editor in Chief of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal for academic year 2005-6.
