David Gelfand feels strongly that civil rights may be threatened by the controversial Patriot Act.  Gelfand, commenting in the New Orleans Times Picayune, stated, "there is not a lot of information provided to the public, and they haven't told us all of their cases.  But it is clear from press reports of just a couple of months ago that not all the investigations under the Patriot Act regard suspected terrorists, but also have been used in ordinary crimes, which wasn't the purpose of the Act when it was sold to the American public."
