Dean David Meyer hosted a gathering of nearly a dozen distinguished Tulane University Law School alumni in Seoul, South Korea, on July 18. Meyer thanked the group for their generous support of Tulane Law School and discussed a range of plans for expanding the school's ties with Korea and other Asian nations. The alumni, including some of the country's leading lawyers, high-ranking government officials, the general counsel of the Bank of Korea, and top academics, credited Tulane with propelling their professional successes and spoke warmly of New Orleans as their "second hometown." The group met for dinner at the Jirisan Restaurant in Seoul's Insadong district – the same restaurant where Edward Sherman, dean of the law school from July 1996 – June 2001, last met with Korean alumni in 2000.
