On Friday, 23 April, the World Affairs Forum at Tulane University will host an important Summit on Haiti, the first of its kind since the recent American intervention in Haiti earlier this year. This Summit will take place on Friday, April 23 from 10 am - 3pm in room 110 of Tulane Law School.
The program will consist of two panels: 10am – 12pm (1) “Intervention in Haiti”, including discussion on the legality of the intervention; and, 1pm – 3 pm: (2) “Future Prospects for Haiti” including discussion on the challenges faced by Haiti under its new administration.
Panelists will include Mr. Ira Kurzban, attorney to Mr. Jean-Bertrand Aristide; Group of 184 representative Mr. Gervais Charles; Professor Pierre Marie Paquiot, President, State University of Haiti; Professor Günther Handl, Tulane Law School; Mr. Herve Saintilus, President, Federation of Haitian University Students; Dr. William Bertrand of Tulane’s Payson Center; Mr. Beausejour Jean Coty and Professor Heberne Edmond of Council for a Peaceful Transition in Haiti; Mr. Larry Birns and Ms. Jessica Leight from the Council for Hemispheric Affairs; Mr. James Morrell from the Haiti Democracy Project; Professor Gelin I. Collot, Dean of the Law School of Haiti; and Mr. Rene Julien, Amicale des Jurists, Haiti.
