Eric Dannenmaier, director of Tulane's Institute for Environmental Law and Policy was quoted in a New York Times article on an eleven year-old lawsuit filed in Ecuador by Amazon indigenous citizens against a major American oil company for allegedly polluting groundwater and violating environmental standards.
Dannemaier comments that "Companies have for years used low environmental standards in the third world as a legal defense for practices they know would be unacceptable in their own countries."
The article, entitled, "Court Goes to Oil Fields in Ecuador Pollution Suit" appeared in the August 27th edition of the New York Times.
