Tulane University sports law expert Gary Roberts says there is much to be learned from the recent brawl at an Indiana Pacer's game involving basketball player Ron Artest. Roberts told the Baltimore Sun in its November 27th, 2004 edition that the NBA leadership could use the incident to "make a very positive statement that this is not what the league is all about."
On the same day, Roberts told the Hartford Courant that the NBA- imposed suspension of Ron Artest and other players involved in the fight is likely to stick. "I think these guys are going to have to serve out those suspensions...I don't see any legal recourse that is going to turn those around," said Roberts.
