Joint degree-candidates must complete a total of 47 semester hours of coursework through the School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine, in addition to 79 hours of coursework. The required coursework at the School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine includes six courses comprising the public health core:

Principles of Health Systems Administration and Management
Biological Basis of Health and Disease
Social and Behavioral Aspects of Global Health

Health Economics
Introduction to Health Care Accounting
Information Systems
Health Care Marketing
Administrative Internship I
Strategic Management & Planning for Health Care Organizations
Managerial Accounting
Health Care Payment - Mechanisms & Policy
Financial Management
Quantitative Decision Models
A summer and second-year residency is optional and may occur in either a health care provider or legal setting. JD/MHA students complete both degrees in four years.
