Tulane Law School strives to create opportunities that enhance our students' practical skillsets in order to better prepare them for their jobs following law school. Through partnerships with local legal professionals, alumni, employers and law school faculty, Tulane Law works to supplement the classroom experience with programs such as Intersession "Boot Camp", externships, judicial clerkships and pro bono opportunities.

| Course Description | | | This seminar will read and discuss works of literature that reflect various approaches to jurisprudence or insights into the legal system. There will be a good deal of reading. An overview of jurisprudential schools, such as natural law, positivism, utilitarianism, legal realism, and existentialism, will be provided at the beginning of the course. Then novels by such authors as Melville, Camus, Kafka, Faulkner, Alan Paton (or others; the list has not yet been finalized) could be used as examples of jurisprudential approaches. Novels like those of Anthony Trollope or Lewis Auchicloss (or even a murder mystery such as by Cyril Hare) could be used for the insights they provide about the legal system and lawyers. An occasional movie or play could be used. The grade will be based on a seminar paper. (3 credits) | | Upcoming Semester Offered | | | Spring 2012 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
