| Course Description | | | This seminar introduces and examines the designations, federal income tax treatment and consequences resulting from a Presidentially-declared disaster under The Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. Topics include identifying qualifying types of disasters and the federal agencies (IRS, Treasury, Homeland Security and FEMA) charged with implementing the disaster relief, and analyzing business tax treatment and planning opportunities (GO Zone bonus depreciation, GO Zone bonds, New Markets Tax Credits) and individual tax treatment and planning opportunities (casualty losses, housing assistance, insurance recoveries, SBA Loans and Road Home grants).
