Criminal Procedure Seminar: Death Penalty

Course Description
This course will explore the theory, jurisprudence, and practice of the modern death penalty system in the United States. It will cover the Supreme Court's seminal cases in the area and discuss matters such as the constitutional requirements, limits and parameters of a death penalty statute, race and the death penalty, jury selection, the roles of the defense attorney and prosecution in a capital case, and the role of judge, jury and experts in the penalty phase of a capital case.  (3 credits)
