| Course Description | | | This course will cover the principles of patent law, including the enumerated aspects of patenting inventions - utility, anticipation, obviousness, written description, enablement, best mode, and definiteness - and the doctrinal underpinnings of these concepts. This course will examine both the statutory aspects of patent law, as well as judicial interpretations by the Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit. The course will also consider the justifications underlying the creation and protections of patent rights. The course will additionally touch on patent law in other countries and current attempts to unify these different patent systems.
