| Course Description | | | This course introduces the basic pollution control statutes, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act and hazardous waste law. It examines and contrasts their objectives, their regulatory schemes and their relative success. Special emphasis is given to comparing, contrasting and critiquing the major regulatory approaches to pollution control: command and control regulation according to health-based or technology-based standards and economic incentive schemes such as the amended Clean Air Act’s acid rain provisions. The course is a foundation for advanced courses in pollution control, hazardous wastes, toxic torts, and environmental advocacy.
