Admiralty: Towage & Offshore Services

Course Description
Tugboats, barges, offshore support vessels, and offshore energy platforms provide important services in today’s economy, especially along the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico. This course examines the history, development, and current state of laws – some familiar, some quite specialized – that apply in the towage and offshore-service context. Both casualties and contracts are studied. J.D. students must take Admiralty I and II as prerequisites. This course is taught by David B. Sharpe, a partner in the firm of Lugenbuhl, Wheaton, Peck, Rankin & Hubbard. (2 credits)
