Tulane Law School strives to create opportunities that enhance our students' practical skillsets in order to better prepare them for their jobs following law school. Through partnerships with local legal professionals, alumni, employers and law school faculty, Tulane Law works to supplement the classroom experience with programs such as Intersession "Boot Camp", externships, judicial clerkships and pro bono opportunities.

| Course Description | | | This course will address environmental criminal enforcement, principally under federal law. The course will use hypothetical fact patterns and class discussion, rather than a lecture format. Reading materials will include cases, historical materials and government criminal enforcement policy statements. Class members will be expected to address issues from the perspective of prosecutor, investigator, defense attorney and judge. Prior courses in criminal law and procedure are recommended, as the focus will be on areas in which environmental criminal law differs from the larger realm of criminal law. The course will initially canvass environmental criminal statues and trace their increasing use since 1970. Other topics will include prosecutorial discretion, mental state requirements, ethical issues in defense representation, corporate criminal liability, and federal sentencing guidelines. Federal agents and prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys will be invited to attend and participate in selected classes. Grade will be based on examination with a class participation component. The course will be taught by Shaun Clarke who is an attorney at the law firm of Liskow & Lewis. (1 credit) | | Upcoming Semester Offered | | | Spring 2012 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
