| Enrollment and Housing Enrollment
A maximum of thirty seven students will be accepted for our 2010 program, including non-U.S. students. Application deadline for the Siena program is May 31, 2010. In 2009, the program had 36 participants from 22 universities, including 5 non-law graduate students, 3 students sponsored by the University of Siena and one practicing attorney.
The University of Siena’s buildings, like many places in Europe, may pose accessibility problems for students with wheelchairs because of steps at the entrance.
Housing
Housing will be available through the University of Siena and through one private Inn. There will be double and single rooms available. This year, housing will be contained in the two residences of the Santa Chiara Graduate College, which are relatively close to the law faculty (about 1km or 15 minute walk), a dormitory (about the same distance), and an inn close to the law faculty (about 0.9 km or 12 minute walk). The cost per person at the dormitory is projected to be $650 for a double room. At the College, it is projected to be $800 for a double room, and $900 for a single room. At the inn, housing is projected to be $800 for a double room. Housing will be available from June 5 – June 26. At the College, a breakfast option can also be added for $150. The exact amount will be determined after January, 2010, on the basis of prevailing economic conditions and the dollar-euro exchange rates. A limited number of single rooms are available. Dormitory accommodations will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, upon receipt of a completed Housing Reservation, and the full amount payable, which must be received no later than May 1, 2010. Students may make their own accommodations if they wish, but Siena is crowded in the summer, so it may be difficult and expensive to find other housing.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition for the three week program is $3200. In addition, there is a $150 charge for the three field trips. The first field trip is a visit to the Duomo in Siena. The field trip to the Florence includes a visit to the Uffizi and a visit to the Carabinieri, the Italian Police, for a speech from the Task Force devoted solely to the protection of art and cultural heritage. The third field trip is to a looted site and a wine tour in the countryside. This fee covers transportation by chartered bus, lunch, and admission to the Uffizi and the Duomo in Siena.
Students will be provided with a free electronic version and free printed copies of all materials used in the courses. The printed copies will be available upon arrival in Siena. There is no need to print the materials beforehand.
