Enrollment:
In 2010, the program will admit up to sixty students, including non-U.S. students. Because applications for the program always exceed the number of places available, students desiring to attend the program are encouraged to apply early. In 2009, students from 27 different schools attended, including students from Marmara University in Turkey and the University of Amsterdam.
Housing:
University of Amsterdam dormitory accommodations, consisting of spacious, furnished and well-equipped private or single rooms with shared facilities, are normally available for all students. The dormitories are situated in buildings located on or near a canal, about a 25-minute walk or a 15-minute tram ride away from the classroom.
There is no wheelchair access to any of the dormitories. The cost per person, for the duration of the program (1 month), is projected to be about $925 for a single room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, and $1025 for a single room with private bath and private kitchenette. The exact amount will be determined after January, 2010, on the basis of prevailing economic conditions and the dollar-euro exchange rates. Dormitory accommodations will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, upon receipt of a completed Housing Reservation Form, and the full amount payable, which must be received no later than May 1, 2010. Students seeking accommodations after that date will have to make their own arrangements.
Tuition and Fees:
Tuition for the combined four-week session is $4000. In addition, there is a $100 charge for the two field trips. The field trip to The Hague includes tours of the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice (Peace Palace). The field trip in Amsterdam is to the Anne Frank House. This fee covers transportation by chartered bus, lunch, and admission to the Peace Palace.
Students will be provided with a free electronic version and free printed copies of all materials used in the courses. The printed copies will be available upon arrival in Amsterdam.
